Rev. Bryan Gerlach

Bryan Gerlach serves as the Director of the WELS Commission on Worship. His parish ministry experience includes congregations in Texas and California. Gerlach has a Master of Church Music degree and continues to serve as a regular pianist and organist at two WELS churches in the Milwaukee area.

After serving congregations in El Paso, TX, and Citrus Heights, CA, Bryan was called to be the Commission on Worship’s first administrator in 1995 ( now “director” after the 2009 synod convention). As director, Pastor Gerlach serves as an advisory member on the Commission’s subcommittees and oversees all of its activities. He also serves as coordinator for the Congregation and Ministry Support Group. Before accepting his present call, he held a unique position (for that era) at St. Mark in Citrus Heights – a congregation with over 30 adult confirmands per year. He served as both pastor and church musician. As pastor he had primary responsibility for both worship and outreach and developed database applications for tracking worship guests and prospects as well as choir library tools. He is a regular pianist/organist at two churches: Grace, Milwaukee, and Christ the Lord, Brookfield, WI. He has a Master of Church Music degree from Concordia University, River Forest, IL.
